PINK LADIES of SUMC
Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint"
Our vision is to reach into the community and to impact the lives of women at any stage of breast cancer. We, as breast cancer survivors, have been through the same situations, or something very similar, and we are here to help them. We understand that the minute they are diagnosed with breast cancer they become a member of a club that they didn’t ask to join or want to be involved in. They can be and are often overwhelmed with the challenging diagnosis. Our goal is to help others understand that there is HOPE, and they can possess healing that transforms their lives for a more fulfilling and better future.
Through support group meetings we will discuss:
- Emotional & spiritual support
- Relationships
- Nutrition and exercise
Women of all ethnicities diagnosed with breast cancer are welcome; especially, those who desire to live a more healthy and spiritual life through the belief that God is working in and through us.
We meet at 1:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month in The Great Hall.
lgbtq+ UNITED
Everyone is welcome! Grandparents, parents, friends, and allies are invited to join us on the SECOND WEDNESDAY of every MONTH! Two meeting times are available. The first is at noon until 1:00 pm and they also meet later in the day from 6:30 until 7:30 pm. Both meetings will take place in Room 114 (The Great Hall). Please come to whichever meeting time works best for you!
We offer a loving, compassionate, and safe space to share stories and experiences, to support each other, and to learn from one another. We hope to be a resource for everyone no matter where you are on this "heart journey". We may not know all the answers, but we do know that WE ARE ALL GOD’S CHILDREN, and GOD LOVES US ALL. We welcome EVERYONE - straight and LGBTQ+. Please join us!

Sisters-in-Faith Friday Bible Study
Women of all ages are invited to join us as we end the week by turning to the Bible with studies based on books from the likes of Adam Hamilton, Max Lucado, Dr. David Jeremiah, among many others.
The Sisters-in-Faith Friday Bible Study runs periodically throughout the year and typically meets each Friday at 11:00 am at the church (room assignment can vary).
They wrapped-up their studies for 2024 in late-November and will take a brief hiatus until 2025. Stay tuned for further details.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Calling all creative types and those who like to decorate, assemble, and have fun. No special skills required! Join us to help create sets and backdrops for our Children’s VBS, musical events, and other special activities throughout the year.
CARING HEARTS CARDS
The Caring Hearts Team is a greeting card ministry. Do you know of someone sick, hospitalized, undergoing treatment, suffering a loss, depressed, or just in need of regular contact from Strawbridge UMC?
We would love to share a hug through a special card for extra love and support for them. We are currently sending out about 20 cards a month. Some people get cards once or twice, but many receive them monthly.
PRAYER SHAWL Ministry
If you're looking for a creative avenue for fellowship with other women that enjoy knitting and preparing shawls and other comforting items for those in need, please consider joining the UWF Prayer Shawl Ministry.
They will be taking a brief hiatus during the holidays, but will return to meeting weekly in the New Year (2025). When they do reconvene, they will meet in The Library at 1:00 pm each Wednesday and would love to welcome you "into the fold".

INTERFAITH QUILTERS
Strawbridge Interfaith Quilters was formed in 2001. Initially, it was to represent Strawbridge UMC at the annual Interfaith Quilting Bee held at the Mormon church. But we have grown into so much more!
We have members that do not sew or quilt, but can run an iron or scissors with great skill. Anyone with a helping heart is welcome to join us. Our quilts are used to wrap anyone who needs to be warmed physically, spiritually, and emotionally. We pray over them as we are working and then have them blessed by Strawbridge UMC clergy.
Some of our recipients have been SUMC Habitat for Humanity homeowners, Family Promise of Lake Houston, Mission Northeast, Family Time, Shriners Burn Hospital, Dell Children's Hospital, Village Learning Center, Mothers Against Cancer, a breast cancer golf tournament, an orphanage in Angola, cancer patients, Alzheimer and memory care patients, and Elm Grove Elementary School.
We have a lot of fun, fellowship, and faith. If you feel called to join us, we would love to have you!
Their last Work Day was held on Friday, November 8 and they'll have another one in late-winter/early-spring of 2025.
